I just screen shot this from Stick.com
(I hope that is okay :| )

Cedric,

Look closely at the insert point for the bass string (position#8).

And at insert point for your string position # 5  The holes are the same size. The big bass string 'ball' should fit in that hole unless you are using some other kind of strings . Yes? Just follow the course back the other way.

No need to disassemble anything on the bridge. Please let me know if that answers your question and I will try to get you a picture of mine soon...

Here's what mine looks like.

As you can see, the holes on the bass side are bigger than the holes on the melody side. Strings 8, 7 and 6 have ball ends that are too big to fit in the melody side holes.

Hi Cedric, "Here in lies the rub". Now we are on the same page (I think)...

Do you want your NS to be set up in IMR (Interior Matched Reciprocal):

http://www.stick.com/instruments/tuning ... terior_mr/

Or Duel Bass Reciprocal: http://www.stick.com/instruments/tuning ... erior_dbr/

If You want DBR, Sorry i misunderstood I thought the thread was about MR.

You want two bass's so you would need
to get the parts from SE or just order a new bridge from them so you would have both.

Or disassemble the bridge and find someone who knows
how to use a drill press and match the holes (exactly) on the Melody side to the bass side.

There is no easy fix.... 8-) Or maybe there is....

What about this; Get a special order new set of strings from SE,
($cost of strings and postage$)...
Interior Matched Reciprocal. The bass side Medium gage and the Melody side
Heavy gage. But still melody strings with small balls. That would be close without having to change the instrument.

I think that getting in there with a hand drill is a bad idea and you know Jaco Pastorious
supposidly ripped the frets out of his Fender with a pair of pliers but later recanted
and said he bought it that way  ...Really?

The only other solution which might work is to "roll your own". There are people
who make custom string sets (in Malta?) I don't know, but with the internet you could find someone
who could make the strings with small sized balls.

A quick search: http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Custom ... c_164.html

Personally I would always want Stick Enterprises strings but Emmett has someone who
makes his strings for him (and us) :? Oh! what a novel idea ;).

"Me i am a lawn mower, you can tell me by the way I walk".
 Sorry,... i may have had too many cups of tea...Good luck.

Post Re: Matched Reciprocal. Thoughts?
Does anybody know if the string gauges are the same as the 10 string matched reciprocal set. I have an extra set of 10 string matched reciprocal and am thinking of giving it a go on my ns. Just wondering if there is any reason I shouldn't.

Thanks

A whole new bridge seems a little excessive. My NS was originally set up for DBR, and came with an extra melody side saddle already reamed out so I'm pretty sure you should be able to get the parts from SE. I played around with it once and changing the saddles really is quite a simple affair.
