Re: Matched Reciprocal. Thoughts?
Hi Cedric, "Here in lies the rub". Now we are on the same page (I think)...
Do you want your NS to be set up in IMR (Interior Matched Reciprocal):
http://www.stick.com/instruments/tuning ... terior_mr/Or Duel Bass Reciprocal:
http://www.stick.com/instruments/tuning ... erior_dbr/If You want DBR, Sorry i misunderstood I thought the thread was about MR.
You want two bass's so you would need
to get the parts from SE or just order a new bridge from them so you would have both.
Or disassemble the bridge and find someone who knows
how to use a drill press and match the holes (exactly) on the Melody side to the bass side.
There is no easy fix....
Or maybe there is....
What about this; Get a special order new set of strings from SE,
($cost of strings and postage$)...
Interior Matched Reciprocal. The bass side Medium gage and the Melody side
Heavy gage. But still melody strings with small balls. That would be close without having to change the instrument.
I think that getting in there with a hand drill is a bad idea and you know Jaco Pastorious
supposidly ripped the frets out of his Fender with a pair of pliers but later recanted
and said he bought it that way
...Really?
The only other solution which might work is to "roll your own". There are people
who make custom string sets (in Malta?) I don't know, but with the internet you could find someone
who could make the strings with small sized balls.
A quick search:
http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Custom ... c_164.htmlPersonally I would always want Stick Enterprises strings but Emmett has someone who
makes his strings for him (and us)
Oh! what a novel idea
.

Sorry,... i may have had too many cups of tea...Good luck.
