Post Re: NS tone on melody strings
Huh so there is a secret tone thing in there?! I should have known. Can you describe more what it does? I can look at my ns and see if it matches. I would think it does cause its the same modified emgs. I dont want to mess with mine yet tho but man thats weird. Is it a trivial tone difference or what? You have any opinion on pickup height? peace

Hi Oceans.
I don't really have an opinion on the pick up height... I keep it where SE set it at...
I believe it's the same EMGs that are on the current NS. Maybe we can find out which EMG set up is used and get the manual from EMG. SE should be able to tell us what it is...

I think the switches moved the frequency where the shelving starts for the treble and bass. Just a guess...

Post Re: NS tone on melody strings
I quickly researched EMGs website and I think the control is the BTC control.
http://www.emgpickups.com/accessories/b ... ntrol.html

The site says:
A dual-dip switch is mounted to the PC Board that lets you program the high end frequency response four different ways so you can choose the sound that's right for you.

I didn't spend much time as I have already got my sound the way it is right now but you can play around with this to experiment on the high end frequencies...

Buy an Axe Fx...worked wonders for me.

Not really a super cost effective soloution I know...but worth every penny.

Skydiver - I checked out the mini switches inside the NS, but it sounded like all other positions result in an even treblier sound. Oh well, worth a try, didn't even know they were there.

Dr Froth - Yes, I am sure the Axe FX makes a huge difference; just cannot justify the expense... do you process the two NS sides separately through the Axe FX?
