RS Video Don Schiff NS Melody Solo

Okay gang. This is fun. A new Rocket Scientists video from the new album "Refuel" and the song "She's Getting Hysterical".. I call our attention to this though the NS is not in the bass role as their is Synth bass throughout. HOWEVER we get to see and compare tones to one of my favorite guitar tones, the "Les Paul". If you wait long enough and enjoy the dancing girls, we get back to the band shots and their we eventually find the NS/Stick with me standing behind it trading 4's with Mark McCrite playing his usual dynamically perfect solo and tone. I was so pleased to hear how our beloved NS can stand toe to toe with distortion guitar and maintain it's own presence, sound , power and personality. It is a pluck and tapped solo with the slide thrown in. (a carabiner, or 'hook clamp' as it is sometimes called - Personally I call it the "DonSchiff super special Slide", ask for it by name but.... Ya know, that's just me throwin' it out their like a donut.)
And for the most part I played cello, "Oh really, I didn't know you played Cello". Well, heck either did I but it came out rather nice I think. I'm even 'sawin' away on the upright too". As you can see in my technique I'd be quite good at sawing wood for the fireplace too!
Enjoy, ask questions, comment! Happy to share what I know, and tell an interesting story if I don't know./Don

That was excellent, Don. I like the tune, the playing was great (who was drumming on it?), and thanks to a recent episode of "How It's Made" on Science Channel, I know what a carabiner is (or at least, now I know that's the name for it)! I know what you mean by Les Paul tones. My personal opinion? To heck with Jimmy Page; I'll take Mick Ronson's tone in "Cleveland Rocks" from Ian Hunter's Welcome to the Club live album any day of the week. Mark gets a GREAT sound on this tune, too. Well done, sir! PS: I just changed from a wood stove to a pellet stove, so my wood stove is available if you need it.

+1 to that, Luc. Moonage Daydream has one of my favourite Ronson solos on it, harking back to the stuff he played on The Man Who Sold the World - awesome tone from his Les Paul. Not forgetting Paul Kossoff from Free another beautiful tone to die for.

Awesome tune! awesome band Don!.... ....ditto on the Les Paul tones... I'll never part with mine.. I have to say some of my favotite Les Paul tones were from Martin Barre on the Early Jethro Tull albums Aqualung, Thick As A Brick and Passion Play.
