Post Just postulating...ONLY postulating...
With all the groundbreaking work that's been done with the RailBoard®, one has to ask...

...do you think there may be a CNC-Machined aluminum NS Neck in the works? ;)

Interesting question. My guess is that the weight of an aluminum neck versus the typical laminated wood or bamboo would make it too top-heavy to be practical.
But what a low-action animal THAT could be.

Let's hope not.

Low-action is the one reason I haven't gotten one... also, I would be sad to see the pretty wood go bye-bye.

Funny, low action was one big reason why I got an NS/Stick to begin with. ;)

Sorry I'm a materials neophyte, but aluminum would be heavier than say, wenge? I'm assuming an aluminum NS neck would be patterned similarly to the railboard, with less actual material than the wood necks.

T'was also thinking how much easier it would be for Emmett to create and set up a half-fretless CNC template. ;)

Well, a Railboard, even with its low profile and much-reduced cubic inch volume, is still heavier (by about a pound) than wooden Sticks.

I can't say for sure because I have my strings as low as possible, but ... the NS/Stick has a lot of adjustment on the bridge height screws. I bet you could get the strings fairly high, possibly to the point were tapping would be difficult.

I've only played one NS but I found the action plenty high for Bass playing (I play a relatively high P Bass) but it was still tappable.
I don't know what gauge the strings were though.
I should find that out before I order.

The Textured fingerboard on the Rail was interesting but I would have to adjust my technique more than I want to at the moment. I wouldn't choose that fingerboard for an NS
