I'm looking forward to your unboxing video. And especially the seaboard block one once it comes in. I'll be using my light pad block this weekend while playing stick. Trying to emulate a famous Bob we all know and love by doing two instruments at once

Seems to be a useful gadget! Over here I'm using the Ableton Push a lot and I love the ability to switch the grid to match all kind of scales. It doesn't make sense to memorize scale positions on a rubber pads grid, like for example on an EWI. My EWI is more like a saxophone; every new scale opens up for new exciting fingerings. But when playing the Push I typically jump between scales all the time, within played phrases. I like that this Roli Lightpad Block is so small and portable. Can't wait to hear more about this when you get your hands on it and your brain around it

Haha I am still struggling with life on the Stick, it'll be awhile before I add any more instruments just yet although I do have a Kieth McMillen 12-step that I suppose I could eventually use to play pads and stuff with my feet! Haha I'd be dancing around, it would be totally out of control! Anyways, any chance you could get some video? I'd love to see it in action!

Re: I bought a Roli Lightpad Block Verycool
So, I had the best of intentions with doing an unboxing video, and thought "Well, let me just take it out of the Sweetwater shipping box, so the kids can have the candy." Next thing I know, I've opened it and went to town. The basement studio still needs some cleaning and arranging after some flooding we had (which we caught quickly before anything other than a single carpet was ruined). So, I couldn't wait until I cleaned up enough to shoot videos. I ended up opening everything, although I was careful to leave me the option of still doing a review video with the newly-opened box. I can still do that unboxing video, if I want to fake--I mean, "recreate"--that initial opening. I cranked out two new songs this weekend using it. One was a tune in 3 flavors of 5/4, which I barely used the Roli gear on. The bass lines have some bendings I added. I had done most of it already before the Roli stuff came. Tune #1: Go Fünf Five https://soundcloud.com/stephen-sink-1/go-funf-fiveTune #2: Sol InvictusBut the next tune was 100% made from MIDI notes and the Roli Lightpad and Seaboard Block, and using 100% stock Avid Pro Tools plugins. I could have used "real" guitar powerchords and it would have sounded better, but this was all made using only 2, maybe 3, plugins: Vacuum, Xpand 2, and maybe Structure Free. And then some plugins for mixing and mastering. I didn't even use the IOS Noise app, that I installed on my iPhone, which is the way that all of the demo videos I saw showed. I'm going to play with it this week. There are two main riffs in this song and both were just pulled straight out of the ether and onto the Lightpad, with no planning or forethought. I literally hit record and tapped out two riffs. Then I slightly quantitized them because of some lag which was consistent. I don't know if it was me or the device, but all my notes were just a few milliseconds off. In fact, I grabbed the whole riff with my mouse and just nudged it over to the start of the beat, and it all lined up, with some minimal quantization. My 12-year old son, Xavier, named this song "Sol Invictus," after some video games characters. He was unaware of the prog rock Tony Wakeford project band of the same name. (Nor was I, until I looked it up!) Sol Invictushttps://soundcloud.com/stephen-sink-1/sol-invictus-1I think the window for the unboxing video is gone, but I'll still do a review video, and maybe a video of creating a song from ground up, like Sol Invictus. I have to do a lot more tunes this way, and get into the Noise app, and have some fun with this! (Now I want a Seaboard Riser 49 for a grand. Maybe instead of the LinnStrument.) Cheers!

Steve's tunes were awesome, hearing them just about made me buy the same stuff, but I resisted, and instead practiced more Stick and guitar stuff.
Really cool gear, guys.

I'm actually liking the Lightpad more than the keyboard Block so far. It's handy to be able to quickly change some drum patterns with a little handheld controller on the fly, while playing. My cellphone headphone jack will go into an aux input on my Fishman and still have plugs for the Stick, so it's easy to do that. Have fun and tell us what you think of it and find to use them for!
