I am a soon-to-be beginning stickist (should have my instrument paid off by end of next month) and have no equipment to play a stick through. Is it advisable to just practice unplugged for a while? All my money is going to be tapped out paying for it. I live in Costa Rica so everything electronic costs more here. I have searched the websites of all the music stores in San José and all they even sell is higher end equipment. I saw a Behringer amp for around $250. That would be my price range to start. Is there any way to play in stereo through my macbook air laptop? Any other bargain basement solutions?
Thank you

Re: Advice for newbie please
Unplugged isn't terrible if you have no amp, but there will be some refinement in your technique required once you start plugging in to help get rid of string noise that you won't hear unplugged
Thanks to all for your responses. I have a couple of questions. Is it possible for Irig2 to be inputted stereophonically or am I limited to mono? For the Roland, that would be my preferred choice. But I am not sure if these items are available in Costa Rica.

There is a thread somewhere that shows a guy using an old $5 stereo hifi from Goodwill. It was a simple setup, no soldering. He plugged in the Stick and it was his practice amp.
I tried searching for the video, I think it was on YouTube.

Irig is mono in but stereo out. The Irig Duo is stereo in but $199 from Sweetwater.
