Post FHA NAMM Stick Night shout outs
Stick friends! I'd like to share some shout outs from the Stickist at our NAMM Stick Night at Lopez and Lefty's this Friday.

Emmett will be there, so let your voice be heard wherever you are in the world! Leave your shout out here and I'll share it with all in attendance when we take to the air at 7pm PST this Friday.

Cheers!

Oh yeah...it's NAMM week. I forgot.

That would explain why I haven't heard about the used Stick I just bought that was sent directly to SE. HA.

Have fun yall. Don't stay out too late!

Post Re: FHA NAMM Stick Night shout outs
My appreciation to GP, RG, RS, SA, BB and MT for the warmest welcome to Gene's and Robbin's Stick Night tomorrow in Anaheim. I'll be there, sure as sun is setting, and will be playing my new arrangement (with improvs) of "Black Hole Sun".

I loved this song in the '90s along with the video but thot the melody was overly forced into the chords. Then I was challenged, indirectly right here on stickist.com, to try to come up with an arrangement. Lo and behold, chords and melody work together perfectly, all praises to Chris Cornell.

The repeated 6th scale degree at the tonic raises to the b7th relative to the next chord that descendis by a half tone, and again raises to the natural 7th for the next descending chord, and if repeated again would be the tonic for the next descending chord.

Same note with four chords descending by half steps, and that note ascends proportionally by half steps relative to each chord. This is meaningful context for a single note in contrary relationship to the direction of chord progression. (Got that?) Is there a word or phrase for this relationship in any music theory book? It provides a way of crafting a song that is normally done by the composer's intuition (not that there's anything wrong with that).

OK, simple I, IV, V chord change, and with stationary or repeated root or 1st scale degree in the melody (can't get simpler). Tonic chord (C) and the melody is the 1st scale degree (C), Move up a 4th to sub-dominant (F) and that same note is down a 4th to the 5th scale degree relative to F. Then move up a whole step to dominant 7th (G7) and the same note is now down another whole step to the 4th scale degree relative to G7.

What's up in harmony is down in melody and vice versa, to sum it all up glibly. What's it called? Is anyone aware of this?
