Awesome tips for Stick even if it is Steve Vai
Was watching this and blown away by his ability to convey an idea. I kept thinking that would work great on Stick too. I’m always looking for better and interesting thing to learn and work on.

Thanks for sharing this video. He shares a lot of the same things that I like to do.
The one big difference is that I like to play without looking at the fretboard. I play with my eyes closed, as it allows me to focus more clearly on the sound of my notes. I play laying down on my back with the Stick resting naturally on my body. I've removed the belt hook from my Stick as it isn't required anymore. I play everyday, usually when I wake up in the morning before going to work and before I go to sleep at night. 15-30 minutes each time. I've spent a fair bit of time programming the Line 6 Helix Floor and now I've dialed in the tones that I like the most. It's an awesome setup.

I’m a huge Steve Vai fan so my title was being sarcastic . I ve loved his playing since I saw him with Zappa. I’m going to put a mirror in my room and watch myself.

When F.Z. hired Steve he told him he sounded like "an electric ham sandwich".

I never saw Steve with Zappa - but I have seen him in bunch of his other groups. Always a sold out show, and the playing was beyond spectacular. He’s one of “those” musicians and has made an immense impact on music. Plus, he’s an amazing person too. I was a bit surprised when I saw the title of this post, I definitely missed the sarcasm.
Anyways, I will just take this moment to say what a huge influence Steve Vai’s music has been on me as a player. Every album and project is so different, and the musicians he lplays with are always top notch!

Frank taught Stevie how to have a sense of humor. And he always referred to him in liner notes as "impossible guitar parts" and "stunt guitar". He was phenomnal before he was hired by F.Z., but Frank nurtured/encouraged Stevie's "voice" 'cause he knew he would be on to bigger and better things. And SOMEONE had to invent a guitar with a handle!
