Post Vancouver Stick XI May 24-27
Greetings fellow Stickists,

Time to pack your Sticks and plan a trip to the Pacific Northwest for the 2012 Vancouver Stick SeminarMay 24-27. All the details are at:

http://www.jimmeyer.ca/stick

but I'll list some of the key bits here:

- Don Schiff and Tom Griesgraber will join me as instructors
- Singing Stickist Dale Ladouceur returns to lead a Saturday workshop for singer/songwriters
- We'll be on Granville Island, which is a very eclectic and artist-friendly part of Vancouver
- Everyone can take part in the Sunday outdoor performance on Granville Island
- Don Schiff will wax poetic on the merits of the "finishing donut"

Hope you can join us!

Thanks,
Jim Meyer

Sorry not to be there again this year, Jim. Always a great time.

Vancouver is a very festive town, just make sure Don knows his doughnut limit.

If you have never been to Vancouver, you will never find a better time to go.

If travel cost is a factor, try flying into Sea-Tac, and taking a bus up to Vancouver. There's one that is really nice called QuickCoach:

I often do this when I go, instead of having to take two or three flights to get to Vancouver.

If you live in the Seattle area, this is a great way to get to Vancouver.

Hey Jim,
Looking forward to "getting out of Dodge" and doing some hanging out, in lovely BC.
Is Don bringing his NS/Stick, Stick or both (hopefully both)?
I was thinking that bringing along the 1/2 fretless NS in addition to a Grand would be good,
as the NS is mostly what I need to work on.
Is there anything special I need to know about safely crossing the border
(and back again!) with all music gear intact? I haven't had problems in the past but the rules change.
Do I need like a signed permission slip from "Headmaster Meyer"?
cheers, - Brian

Hi Brian,

Seems like what the border guards are most interested in is whether or not you will be making money (that is, taking a job away from a Canadian). Since that's not the case, you should be fine. As long as you have your passport to get back to the US.

Bringing the half-fretless would be great! I wouldn't mind trying that! I'm sure Don will be bringing his NS - I'll check with him about whether he's bringing a regular Stick.

See you soon!

Jim
