Post RailboardTM preproduction details
First to stickist.com, then to Stick players world wide, then (hopefully) to the world. Please go here for specs and details on my new machined aluminum proto Stick model, the "Railboard".

For now, I hope you enjoy the concept. Hands-on experience will of course come later. I hope very soon to do a first production run of this 10-string model in various tunings and hard anodized colors.

All the Best, Emmett.

These colors are so cool. Thanks for keeping us up to date on this. I trust you'll let us know how much and when we can order! ;)

That is one cool looking stick! Great colours too. I love the machined concave position markers. I don't care too much for the jack being at the top of the pickup though......but whatever...
When the 12 string comes out I think I'll take the plunge.

Great job Emmett, Thanks for posting the news.

Cheers,
Kev

"As for playability, you'll have to see and hear for yourself." I think someone read my questions. I look forward to hearing, seeing and playing the new stick design.

Hello Emmitt,

Having had experience in machine tooling (plastic injection mold making) I would offer a suggestion. Assuming this hasn't already been considered, a reference hole and pad would expedite Railboard repair and/or resurfacing the fret rails.

What I'm talking about is machining a precision hole in the initial manufacturing process that could accommodate a gauge pin or dial indicator. Thus, you could locate the Railboard for being re-machined. A precision "pad" to be used to locate the Z location in addition to the hole for X and Y locations would make resurfacing the fret rails much easier.

In instances where there has been much wear and gouging of the rails, a skilled welder could make resurfacing with the CNC mill a snap. The hole/pad combination could be hidden under the pickup block so as to not detract cosmetically.

Just a thought...
-Walter

Hi Kev,

The jack comes out the top of the module on the prototype, but on the production model the pickup will be reversed, with the jack coming out on the bottom, and on the bass side.

I imagine it will look like this:

Gabriele, it will be a "different headstock materiale (not the hand made wenge one shown in the photos)"
;)
I think aluminum and fiberglass were mentioned as possibilities, but you can head to the South California seminar topic to check that.
