Post Question about Daniel Kane - San Francisco street performer
I bought one of Daniel Kane's cassette tapes in the mid to late 80s. He was performing on the street near the wharf area in San Francisco. The tape eventually wore out to the point where there was NO audio output. Yeah... I played it a LOT. Sadly, I have since lost it. I could swear that the title of the tape was "Hot Summer Nights" or something to that effect. The songs on side B were the same as the ones on side A. The cassette was opaque white with some text printed on it. I would LOVE to get another copy. Clues anyone???

Kane is a musician who struck me as someone who should be in a concert hall, not down on the wharf. Beautiful sounds...

I have both the cassette you are referring to -- Summer Nights in the City -- as well as On Time / Out-of-Time. E-mail me at jskeysdiver-nope@yahoo.com if you'd like them...

Funny, I was looking for some audio files from him on the net a few days ago!

Joe... Thanks for the offer. Someone supplied me with a replacement CD for my Summer Nights tape. Since I had purchased the tape, we both felt that I wasn't cheating DK out of his due. And to the person who sent me the CD... thanks again. TCC

PLEASE tell me you are still watching this thread. I, too, bought Daniel's CD so many years ago and have Googled his name many times but tonight is the first time I have gotten a link from it. After hitting all the damned CD sales sites that are out of date, I almost gave up, then I saw this forum listing.

I'd love to be able to hear his music again... my tape is hammered from age. Thanks!

Kai

For those needing to replace their worn-out Daniel Kane tapes:

I saw Daniel Kane playing in San Francisco in the late 80's and bought a tape.
I later tracked down and purchased the other two recordings.
