Post Just for fun
I recently recorded a weird and "Frisell-esque" (well, I hope so) version of a classic tune from Ray Charles, renamed Jeanine on my mind.
This cover will comp a video we're making with my brother as a gift to our mother for her birthday.
Not expecting so much feedback from you (but well, you can criticize), but I had so much fun to record this tune that I can't do nothing but share with you. ;)

Grozoeil! This is taking me back to Lookout for Hope, maybe some of those deeper cuts of off Where in the world. This is fantastic, thanks so much for posting!

The funny thing about Bill Frisell is that I really don't dig his playing. My drummer is a big fan of him, and tried to convert me in lending half of his discography (which is a pretty big amount of cds!), but just two or three of them really aroused my interest, Lookout for hope and Where in the world especially, for some reason I can't explain.
BTW, thanks for listening and your feedback, maybe I really should to focus more on recordings :?

dreamy in a slightly disturbing way. nice presentation. I like the phono scratches and the little child sounds at the end.

No, TF is in orbit who knows where. It's this one now. From far the best delay I ever owned (I say that every new delay I buy)
For this tune, I used a tape delay preset, some reverb from TC Electronic's Hall of Fame and a good old Boss overdrive to tamish the natural clean sound of the Stick, plus some secret preamps ;)

Hi guys

Just working on a new tune right now, and I just recorded this sloppy version this evening of Peter Gabriel's San Jacinto (I hope he won't listen to it) .

Critics obviously welcome upon my playing (but, even more important to me, upon the overall ambience I tried to put on) but please remember that :

- this is a very personal version of that classic tune, so don't expect to be the exact replica of Peter's : I added some intro, cut some parts, etc, etc... you get the idea ;
- this is a really sloppy version, the groove is sometimes (well, pretty often) "floating" and there're a lot of mistakes but I didn't want to delete them (well, this record is just a work in progress)
- I just added a really basic drum groove, so don't expect any drum break :) (and don't expect any solo from me too on that one)
- and I suspect that a cable or a power supply began to fail during the recording process, hence a hiss appearing at some points... :(

I may post in some days a new version that will consider all your advices, so be productive! ;)

For your information, all was played in real time. I looped some notes and noises first, that I layered without any sense of time, than reversed the loop and began the record of the tune. So you won't hear me record the different layers.

For that tune, I used my preamp, a basic Boss SD-2 for the crappy distorted sound (I love that one), some filtering for the ambient loops, TC Electronic Hall of Fame reverb and Strymon Timeline for loops and delays (I do love that one too).

Nice sweet melodies with a touch of delay spookiness - enjoyed!
