Re: André Pelat's wonderful "Concerto pour Stick Chapman"
Thanks Greg! Great find.
That was just incredible. The modulations between chords especially and then the multiple high-register tapping sections.....and I love the ending. Superb example of what's possible on the Stick. What a brilliant composition.
-Joseph
*Note: miscellaneous ramble Since this was composed for the Stick (based on the title), this raises one of those philosophical chicken-or-the-egg questions: was this music inspired because of the Stick or was it "out there" waiting to be realized and the Stick is the only instrument where it could be articulated (OK, maybe it would doable on piano, but it wouldn't have the same character). Either way it illustrates what a massive contribution that the Stick has made to either inspiring people to create music or enabling them to get their music out into the world.

Oh, wow. What a wonderful addition to the Stick corpus. Oh, how I hope this has been scored and will be available to us. Does anyone know André well enough to ask him?
Wow, wow, wow.

Yes, that was amazing! The piece builds al the way through, and the last two minutes or so are astounding in virtuosity.

Wow, wow, wow.
-Eric Yes, I will phone him within the month and let you know As I see some good reactions to his video, and considering the fact that I think he doesn't come very often on any kind of boards, if any of you has some questions to ask to Andre, I could phone and ask him, even doing some kind of little interview. Let me know!

I got about 3 or 4 new ideas and several different thoughts about how to approach the instrument in that 10 minutes. Great post. Great musician! Thanks. Mike
