Re: Aaron Copland
Aaron Copland IS American music. It's like listening to an Ansel Adams photo or a Georgia O'Keefe painting.

Re: Aaron Copland
I have a history/photo book from Interlochen that dates back to it's beginning in 1927. The book is loaded with photos of composers like Copland, Hanson, Barber, and Sousa staying for extended visits working with the World Youth Symphony on their own works. I get chills looking at the photos sometimes.
Hanson composed some of the Romantic Symphony while staying at Interlochen. There is a short section of that piece that became the "Interlochen Theme" and to this day, every concert during the summer arts camp ends with it and the audience is instructed not to applaud afterward.
