Re: Are ebay sellers NUTS?!
Why is it crazy to list a used Stick for $3800? It's free to list and and the world is full of buyers who don't know any better. Someone might bite.
It's worth whatever someone pays.

A firm and honest message to them, with a link to a post in the stickist, has more than once prompted a starry-eyed dealer to at least consider a best offer option. There are still postcard sized pics of Emmett still popping up on eBay. Le sigh...

Nuts? Not at all.
I've seen these sellers get what they're asking many times. Never under estimate the lure of immediate gratification. Personally I would find it a bit unethical to charge more than SE. But if the instrument were mint and I thought I could get full price with the promise of immediate delivery, of course I'd take it and run.

Re: Are ebay sellers NUTS?!
I guess if it were a "nearly new" instrument I could see it going for close to retail, taking into account the "instant gratification" factor.
But some of those sticks are quite old and, while probably in fine shape, not worth as much as the newest technology. However, caveat emptor.

Re: Are ebay sellers NUTS?!
I would like to know where they are getting these Sticks from. Some adds make it very obvious that the seller isn't a Stick player and may not even play an instrument at all. Many are just professional eBay sellers.
I've often dreamed of finding a Stick some place at a great price because the owner didn't know its value. That kind of thing less likely to happen now with the internet being available to look up prices. I can't help but think some of these eBay sellers are selling Sticks found at a house/estate/garage sales and are just doing their usual selling thing.
As long as you don't get too upset, some of the adds can be entertaining to "decipher".

Re: Are ebay sellers NUTS?!
The frustration of hunting Sticks on eBay built up to the point that I stopped looking (hi Andy!). On the whole, I would rather just order from SE and bide my time.
