Post received my new NS yesterday!!
Meet "Usul". :ugeek:
Ash body, dark bamboo neck, black peal inlays.
First impressions - ~nice~
wood -
I really like the bamboo neck, it's quick really hard and light weight.
the body is a tad darker then i expected, but wood can be like that.
The grain has a tiny separation between the neck pickups and the neck After closer inspection, I've discovered this is a natural state of the wood, not a crack, it's like the grain curled out (would of been a knot a few inches away, but the knot was cut out for the neck area) IMO -This gives the body more character. makes it "real".
Electronics -
One of the pots is a bit stiff, If it doesn't loosen up I'll contact SE.
Playing stereo through a HD500x -> Pigtronix infinity -> Roland KC-550.
The EMG's don't have the power of my standard bass pups,,, but (!) they sound great. I will deal with this in the signal chain and pickup height.
I need to cut through live drums.....
playing -
The action is a blast, I caught myself playing in mixed mode, tapping, finger plucking, and light thumb slapping (this demands a light touch,,, but what a riot) the fretboard is fast.
The strap is nice, I'm 6'2", so luckily I can adjust it. the way SE placed the forward strap bar forces it to fall into playing position, I've had neck heavy bases that could of used this. I didn't even think about it's weight, it's not heavy, and falls right into the "lets go" position.

This journey is already fun.

That is beautiful!
Great character in the wood grain.

The tight pot might be the knob rubbing underneath. Use a tiny hex wrench to loosen, raise it a hear and tighten. Hopefully that will fix it but if it doesn't I wouldn't worry about it unless you need to turn the knob during your playing.

Welcome to Club NS!

Very nice. What a welcome package and it sounds like you are already gearing up to gig out with it. Bravo.

Be sure to check out the FHF hardware spotlight on the Line 6 HD500 and HD500x. There are some good discussions on configuration and getting the most from using dual signal channels.

Don't forget to sleep and eat...
:D

More evidence as to why I always say ash is my favorite wood. Looks great whether a Stick, N/S Stick, guitar, bass, or baseball bat.

Yeah man! And the thing gets more and more sick/comfy as you feel its power take over your hands . It is a trip to use all hybrid techniques with such fluidity. I still laugh a lil sometimes as its so effortless.
One problem though, when you play other peoples axes your whole life falls apart  . For me anyway, its like night and day playing a standard 6 string bass or whatever. Of course their are the rare exceptions where a bass is setup proper with low action but it's still not as good.

Hails on the NS!
