Eric Johnson - Are you Experienced?
This is why Eric is one of the best in the world. Total control of the feedback and tone out of that Stratocaster. Nailed the solo and then added some classic EJ chordal voice stylings at the end...

Nice playing...one the many sons of Hendrix...he plays nice...less drugs, more control...nice tone...some new tricks also...less rock but a very nice polished production...like almost everything done today. Nice control on feedbacks also. Can you imagine Hendrix with this tone today?

Hendrix was less polished. That's why his music was real and cut thru to the soul.

Re: Eric Johnson - Are you Experienced?
I've been blessed to by virtue of my age to have seen both Eric and Jimi perform this song live and to have met both men. What can I say. Of the several players who have come close to nailing Jimi's approach, tone and nuance, Eric has I believe divined the secret far better than anyone else. There is a live recording of Jimi performing that song that I owned as a bootleg for years until it was released in the mid 80s as "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts". Check it out. It is just about as good as I've ever heard Jimi sound live and If you want to hear this song played live by Jimi on a good night you're in for a treat.
