Re: Just got "Water On The Moon"...
I bought Water on the Moon from Greg before he left my house back in July (what a day that was!). He said something like: "This will give you a better understanding of the improvisational freedom the Stick gives you and how open it is for you to play your own way."
Greg did not lie.

I just picked up Ether/Ore with along with the technique DVD (wanted to buy more CDs to package in with shipping, but kinda need to save money, too ). I really dig his more experimental stuff, it gets really "out there" (which is right up my alley).

Re: Just got "Water On The Moon"...
Thank you all for the kind comments. It's nice to know that the music holds up so well after all these years. When I first released it, it was just one track, which was a little annoying in the CD format. But now, if you want to have it as one track as a download you can just bounce around in it. So I uploaded it to BandCamp as a single file, if you prefer: http://greghoward.bandcamp.com/album/water-on-the-moonit's also available through all the usual outlets. More info here: http://www.greghoward.com/recordings/

This 59 minute full shebang is a great for doing thinks like cooking food! Or cleaning up a room, except for vacuum cleaning that is too noisy. I like long pieces that evolves like this one, too sad there are so few public scenes for such music to bloom. Do a 9 hour sleep-in concert, Greg! For people with open ears and cosy sleeping bags

Re: Just got "Water On The Moon"...
This was the first Chapman Stick CD I ever purchased. Got it at LA NAMM in 1999 I think. It is a true classic and is absolutely wonderful. I love the extended improv. Fans of this type of music may enjoy Australian band The Necks. For 25 years they've released CDs that usually have one hour long song that slowly evolves leaving you wondering "how did they get here from there?" Live they are all about improv and never perform their albums or surrender to a chops fest as improv music usually does. Recommended as highly as Water on the Moon.
