Looking for the "lost" 1/4 fretless Grand Stick...
I was inspired by the current topic about fretless Stick to pose a question that once in a while pops up in my mind.
In 1996 Emmett made me a 1/4 fretless Grand Stick: it's in the gallery here on Stickist, it has 6 melody strings, and the bass side has the 3 lowest strings fretless: it's a great sounding instrument and I love it!
I sent a tape of (pretty bad) impros to Joe Conti and he got one too, but 5+7, still the lowest three strings fretless, but 2 fretted bass strings and 7 melody strings. As far as I know, he still has it, and I'm sure he rocks it, Joe's great!
i know of a third 1/4 fretless, almost identical to mine, and I traced the guy who owned it: he had sold it, because, "This will sound odd, but it was just too easy to play"... he had one picture of himself with it on his site: I suspect he didn't quite get the idea of how it was meant to be played
Now, I'm just curious: does anybody knows where it is today? Surely such a special instrument can't have just disappeared?!?
