Re: New Tony Levin solo video
I did not realize that they did a video interview with him: no wonder the article was so short!

Re: New Tony Levin solo video
What about a half-stick or a stick bass for him? That would be logical.

Re: New Tony Levin solo video
I asked Tony at one of his solo appearances about his impressions on the SB8 and NS Stick (At the time i was big into the NS Stick) and he didn't have much to say about them. When i told him I played bass and took up the Stick due to seeing him play it with PG and KC he grinned and all he said was "Hard isn't it?!" As Greg said, Tony's always played the traditional Stick. And if you ever have the honor of meeting Tony you'll find him to be a very nice humble man. Not some big headed rock star! At least that's how he came off to me, like just an everyday musician talking with another musician.

Re: New Tony Levin solo video
when I watched that video last night, I thought "You don't see too many instruments in the hands of top-echelon guys without an X-fret!" That dates the instrument, doesn't it? This was so cool.

Re: New Tony Levin solo video
I always find it interesting he almost never goes on the melody side. Watch all the videos available, he's usually on the 5th side.

Re: New Tony Levin solo video
I think it is fair to say that Tony plays his unique style of bass using a Stick, rather than being what many of us would think of as a stickist. That is not meant as an insult to Tony at all, though it is inherently a compliment to countless stickists who have inspired us.
