Shipping Sticks
Anyone have any idea what shipping a Stick to Australia from the U.S. would be? Is there a way to reduce import taxes? Bill

Re: Shipping Sticks
I believe SE is now offering a $150 international shipping credit.

Bill You should call these 2 services and ask them directly the information. I guess it depends of the size of your box, the weight, etc...

Dang, 10-string Grand....
That's the best model SE produces, IMO. A fine instrument. Why are you selling, bro?
Dude, I wouldn't use FedEx for anything, ever. Not ever. UPS will do fine. Use them even if it's slightly more, although I believe it should be the other way around.

Re: Shipping Sticks
Bill, it's worth making some calculations on the import duty and tax. For example, taking this 12-string instrument on eBay which is listing at $2,350 USD ($3,400 AUD): http://www.ebay.com/itm/281909447049The import costs are basically the duty (5%) on the price+shipping+insurance, then the GST (10%) on top of all that. (Items under $1,000 AUD are GST exempt, but this will cease from July 2017.) I used an online tool to calculate the duty for this instrument. I guessed the shipping at $250 without insurance and I described the Stick as an electric guitar. The calculator said the import duty was $170 AUD and the GST was $395 AUD. Here's the calculator, I'm guessing there are others out there: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/Sometimes there are good conversations on this subject on whirlpool: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/?action=search&q=import+dutyI wonder if you get the same treatment if you bring an instrument home from the USA as luggage? Hope the above helps.

K It truly is a sweet stick, but I tried the 12 and it is a better fit, harmonicaly and physically. I tried classic tuning and baritone, I liked them both, 12 gives me that. I'll check out UPS, thanks for the suggestion.
