Post Line 6 Helix Question
I see a few other Stick players on the Helix forum have the same issue - anyone here find a way to route both sides of the Stick into this without losing the input on one side? So far i've found running both into returns can do this, but the volume loss is pretty big.

Lots of cool routing options and I've experimented with changing the impedance on the guitar input.

Not a showstopper, I could still run both sides of my Stick through my EBS Microbass II.

Yes.... Melody in the guitar input, and the bass side in Return 1. Jeremy Cubert sent me some very cool patches that he developed. No issues what so ever... Also, try the L.A. Comp in front of the Studio Tube Pre.... very nice clean sound. Also, on the bass side, try the Cali amp model and use voice 1 or 2. Sweet!

Thanks! The LA Comp is what I used in front of the Jazz amp. May be my choice of amp killing it, but I did try running a dry signal. I'm also going into one QSC 12 speaker. I created a merged route into one output so I can run bass and melody through the looper.

Serves as a bass amp, guitar amp for those intruments. So easy to use for them. Best amp modeler I ever used, does some cool feedback when striking a guitar chord hard and then muting near the bridge. That's something I've never experienced with other modelers,

Not worried about the NS, but right now I don't have mine anymore as I sent the old one back to SE and a new one will be coming soon. Extra bonus if I will not need a bass amp anymore. Would like to go stereo which if I remember right you are also doing.

The looper is awesome. I like the "last" switch. When you are near your last repeat, just hit that one and the loop automatically ends. I see a lot of empty spaces, I'm thinking future upgrades could add more controls. Plus the sound of the loop is not degraded like some others I've tried. It's on par with the TC Looper I have. So I could add the TC in with some stored sounds in it.

Finished a Stick patch today. I did select auto impedance for the guitar input and used instrument instead of line for return 1 for the bass side. Everything is working perfect.

Now starting to sell off some gear I don't need anymore :)

I haven't had a chance to look into this, but someone responded to me on the Line6 forum that this method isn't working with USB, the return input doesn't record. Have you used the USB yet?

I recorded a few things via USB tonight into Logic, no issue recording both sides, however I could not monitor what I was playing unless I routed the output back through the USB and connected the outputs from the Helix into a PA & amp via the mic cables. Nice thing was I detected no latency, the sound is fantastic.

Cross post I made fin the Line6 forum I made for creating separate clean mono tracks from a stereo signal using the effects in Helix. Unfortunately you need something to boos the bass signal into the AUX or MIC input for the bass side. None of the returns work when "Re-amping" via USB into DAW:

OK, I figured it out. Similar to the instructions in the manual, but you are right about the AUX level. Either a DI or a clean boost pedal will be needed for the AUX or MIC input.

Helix:
Input 1 Use Guitar
Input 2 Use AUX or MIC
Merge input 2 into 1 so both will be output into USB 1-2
Put whatever effects you need for both sides
Go to Menu then Global Settings and assign AUX or MIC to Re-AMP SRC 8, GUITAR was defaulted to Re-Amp SRC 7

DAW:
Create one stereo track,Inputs 1-2
Create the melody dry signal MONO track input 7
Create the bass dry signal MONO track input 8
All outputs should be 1-2

Plug the melody side in guitar and bass into AUX or MIC
Arm all and record. I got the effects of both sides in the stereo track, and separate clean signals in the bass and melody mono tracks

I did not try using the mic channel. The problem is they do not allow the returns to be selected for USB 7-8 which are the two Re-Amp inputs in USB.
You only get the choice of AUX,MIC, or GUITAR for 7-8 :(
I used headphones to monitor.

I ran into this problem as well.
Until now I've used the returns at instrument level to input the stick.

Recently I decided to try the Guitar and Aux inputs. I'm using a stomp box into the aux input. I'ts the T-Rex Möller, that has also clean boost.
This setup allows recording the unaffected stick signal via USB as you also described.

The other way that I've thought about is using an active DI into the mic input, such as Behringer Ultra D120 that can be phantom powered.
So that I dont have to connect the adapter or battery that I have with the stomp box.
Not sure if the pad switching on the DI box will bring the level exactly to match the guitar input.

Just tested the stomp thing first as it's no additional cost to me.

Sorry to be pedantic, but that is “Møller.”
