Uh, Twizzle, what's the fear? It can't be bad to have another book. Plus there's a DVD included. I think you'll be inspired by the information and the presentation of "Stickology...". Your move. SA |

Thanks all for the endorsements. Reviews will be forthcoming in most major music mags. A cool observation is that a decent amount of sales have come from outside the Stick community. Also cool that viewers have emailed me asking what the instrument on the DVD is, and they're referring to my partner ... |

Bending with the pinky alone is indeed difficult. No strength. I suggest all the fingers be on the same string behind the pinky to give the bend support. It's like, if your car breaks down and you solicit other guys/gals to help you push instead of being that pinky yourself. Pinky Lee (from way back) |

>>>But back to your post...you write about shifting like it's a bad thing:)<< Shifting is not a bad thing. I shift a lot in my playing. What I think I said was "stretching" the fingers sometimes, could be confusing in motor skills and is just an extra thought process. And I do agree with G... |

Comping is a combination of harmonic and rhythmmic ideas. Harmomically, try the poly chord concept. (there is a chapter in Stickology concerning this approach) i.e. In Birks Works, the first chord is Fm7. You can stretch this to Fm9 which is F Ab C Eb G. Well the C Eb G portion is a Cm triad. So pla... |

Steve Adelson with his answer- From my geetar background, I always used the one finger per fret concept. Four frets, four fingers. My reasoning, is this. If you play with less fingers, then you sometimes stretch to cover 4 frets and sometimes you don't when it's within 3 frets. The brain and muscles... |
