 Alex Nahas
Hi Just want to share that with you who don't know him yet. Alex Nahas (I don't know him personally, but I had some contacts via e-mail with him a while ago) is the stick player from the duo/trio Laughing Stock (3 albums released). I think it's disbanded but he's playing in a new band called Bright Brown : http://www.myspace.com/brightbrownI love this kind of minimalist tunes with a songwriter approach. He's a very skilled player and singer (a dream to me) and has some very interesting musical ideas. It's just a shame that he doesn't seem to navigate around Stick forums, it would be interesting to know a bit more from him. Maybe I should try to get some interview with him for the AFSTG Bruno

 Re: Alex Nahas
I very much enjoy the laughingstock CDs, I really like the vintage/tube vibe he gets from his Stick.

 Re: Alex Nahas
Good point, he has a strong "sonic signature", a thing pretty rare.

We did a show together in San Francisco back in the late 1990's, I remember the drummer had a very odd kit with lots of "junk" instruments, but used them very musically. Their discs are still available from SE, I believe: http://www.stick.com/videoscds/cds/laughing.html

 Re: Alex Nahas
The band uploaded a brand new video. I love how they organized it, I feel they just played for me in my living room!

Thanks for posting this tip. What a great band! Love the songs & arrangements, the vocals and the drumming. Looked around for their video and found a bunch on YouTube http://youtu.be/YGOPVcr-t0o

 Re: Alex Nahas
I enjoyed watching Alex's group play at Brett Bottomley's seminar several years ago. I think he had a new Stick just in time for the get together and even used an E-bow on it. He showed us a little of how he used the E-bow, pretty neat. Afrter seeing him, I went out and bought one of these to try. It is now in my musical junk drawer, but I hope to give it another try someday.
Thanks for posting the video.
Mike

 Re: Alex Nahas
Hey all Sorry I don't frequent this forum as much as I should. I'm afraid the Stick, songwriting, recording, parenthood, and making a buck leave me no brain cells left for the internet. I really appreciate all the kind words over the years and want to let you all know that a website will be going live soon chronicling most of my work as a songwriter, stick player, producer/engineer, etc... the url will be brightbrownsound.com. I will keep you posted and I will strive to stay more in touch with this amazing community. I do have music from my latest project available here http://www.brightbrown.bandcamp.com/album/oceanscheers Alex
