Sad news indeed. What a splendid person…. [emoji22][emoji22] Still remember the very first phone call to SE back in 1987 when he picked up the phone. He sent a brochure and info about the Stick in the mail. Ordered my first instrument soon after….. 34 years ago. I was 21 years old. He was younger than I am now. RIP Emmet. Well done indeed. Sad news to wake up to.

Emmett was a true pioneer: I feel privileged to have been around this piece of the musical world that he built. No other fretboard tapping instrument is as well realised as the Stick...it seemed pretty well realised in the early days...but he just kept on realising.

Oh, and he could play a bit too 8-)

Heartfelt condolences to family and friends.

It was just a couple of days ago that I came across this post by Emmett from just over a year ago:

Playability of Sticks old and new. Repairs of older Sticks to make them play like new. The secret recipe is TLC, beyond the norm and always there. My schoolwork was all about the art on the covers, maps, portraits, lettering. My first jobs as landscaper, age 13, were about creating something special in peoples front and back yards, and it eventually spread to most of the block.

My first official job at age 14 was with a shoemaker on Reseda Blvd. in Northridge. I tried to work those those shoes to perfection. TLC, (no good word for it) takes a humble attitude, just something you always want to do. Grace and Gary are trained in it, like second nature. It's why Sticks of all ages hold their value. It's why some of the best music is still produced on older Sticks.

What a man!
