 Les Paul
Sad news. Just heard from two sources that Les Paul passed away. A special person in history, he was also a very warm and kind man. Fun and kind hearted. He always had a smile. I feel very fortunate to have performed with him and also spend a few private moments chatting about many things. The great thing is he still played his guitar in public till just before his 94th birthday....

 Re: Les Paul
i know i may sound like i am a hater... but to me Les Pauls were heavy and very cumbersome..Never really cared much for them... But i do have respect for the Man Les Paul...what an innovator.. i put Mr.Chapman right up there with Les Paul as making grteat instruments...

 Re: Les Paul
RIP Les Paul. Amazing contributions to the electric guitar. Les Paul guitars are heavy, but that's what gave them their sound. Takes a while for the shoulder to get used to it.

 Re: Les Paul
I have always been a guy who doesnt do the normal thing when it comes to music... everyone thinks that they need a Fender or gibson guitar with a Marshall or a Fender amp...why have the same sound as everyone else...I like Sgs over les pauls.. i like Telecasters over Stratocasters..i like Warwick basses over Fender, i like Laney amps over Ampeg..
i work for a guitar store and i get the question all the time.. why do fenders and gibsons cost so much and why are they this way over other ways...To me it doesnt matter how you spend on a guitar, it doesnt make you a better musician with an expensive guitar..Heck i recorded my first cd with a Series 10 bass going through a Vestax bass amp..
yes Les Paul did alot for music and various recording and effects.. and that i am eternally greatful for..but again .. Les pauls are awkward.. heavy and they sound too much like everyone else... sorry i am done being a hater

 Re: Les Paul
Many years ago I saw a very late night replay of an old Les Paul & Mary Ford Show. I just wanna say this...his guitar playing was astonishing!

 Re: Les Paul
I'll just say that I have a 73 Les Paul Custom and a Paduak 10-string Stick hanging right beside each other. If the house ever catches fire, I'll grab one in each hand and run... my wife can fend for herself =)
