I love Adelaide in March
So anyway, I was out on the street playing my Stick and a familiar looking gentleman with a small entourage came up and paid me a nice compliment. He asked me a few things about the instrument. He then mentioned that he "used to play with Alphonso Johnson" and "then of course there's Tony"! All along I was mentally kicking myself and thinking that I really should know who this is. About a minute after he left, someone else came up to me and said "you know that was Billy Cobham?". So that's my little name-dropping story of the month (so far).
Cheers, Andy

Great stuff! I have a really good 70's fusion record of him playing with Tommy Bolin.

I liked Cobham's work with Mahavishnu Orchestra. What a monster.

The best story I've heard about Cobham is that he used to practice drums with a set anchored to the bottom of his swimming pool and oxygen piped down to his mask... Marty

That's awesome. I heard of drummers practicing with metal pipes into pillows, but that's intense. Do you think it's true?
