question RE Railboard phantom power
I'm sorry if the answers are on here somewhere - if so, I haven't found them.
I just ordered a Railboard for myself, and I'm looking at the Fishman Loudbox Artist.
I believe the Railboard's R-Block requires 48V phantom power for active mode. The specs on the Loudbox Artist say that it provides 24V phantom power. So, that won't work for active mode, right?
The answer seems obvious: NO... but maybe I just don't understand properly. Maybe the amp's XLR jacks are 24V each, which totals 48V, and it will work?!

Re: question RE Railboard phantom power
You can run it without phantom power too. It works quite well that way also. Your choice.

Re: question RE Railboard phantom power
Thanks; yes I'm aware of that.
I just want to choose an amp that can do both, if that's possible.

Re: question RE Railboard phantom power
He's correct, it works very well without phantom power.

Re: question RE Railboard phantom power
I never use phantom power on my railboard. I have in the past a bit. I just like the sound I get through my SP2 preamp pedal. They both sound great either way phantom powered or not and it’s great having the option I just choose not to use phantom power.

Re: question RE Railboard phantom power
I can vouch for Railboard in passive mode.
I'll confess this is the first time I've heard of 24V phantom power. Call me a music tech Luddite! I googled it, so I can see it's a thing I've missed.
I would absolutely NOT engage 24V phantom power on a Railboard unless someone from SE cleared it first. Based on my multimeter experiments with the splitter cable, the voltages are NOT summed across the inputs, so two 24V channels will give you 24V total.
Tread carefully and please post anything you learn from SE or otherwise!
