Hi folks Reading up on the benefits of SE strings vs generic strings. I'm in Canada so between the exchange rate, shipping and customs, getting SE strings can be prohibitive. I'll be in the US soon and can get them shipped to a friend, but in the meantime... I understand that the bass strings are different from "stock" strings, with a softer core better suited to tapping. What about the melody strings, or at least the plain/unwound ones? I use D'Addario strings, which I think SE uses as well. I'm wondering if I could just order bass-side strings and continue to buy my melody strings here. Any thoughts? Mostly interested in folks with actual experience of SE vs non SE strings on the melody side and whether or not there's a difference. Thanks all! Dylan |

I'm using NewTones on my vintage Stick. https://newtonestrings.com/about-newtone-strings/ https://www.youtube.com/@NewtoneStringsGB/videos I'm in Calgary and when I wasn't able to reach SE I went searching online and found mine at https://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/ I got such a good deal that I bought four sets. £14.99 per set of 10 strings £7.99 for delivery. |
