My stick should be expected to arrive a month from today!
Started looking thru youtube tutorials. Have lots saved. Not a one (that i have yet found) that gives a simple method for tuning. It does not seem that tuning should be an issue, but i am guessing somebody has found a way, to tune a stick, that is better than the way i might do tuning. TVM

I think you would find at least a couple video lessons with Steve adelson ( Lee Vatip on this forum ) well worth the money

As far as tuning goes. The TC electronics poly tune clip on tuners tuners work pretty well on a stick , just clip it on the headstock , tap at the 7th fret marker for a string and tweak the tuning machine up or down for that string till it matches up with the proper note. You can find out what the notes are at fret 7 for your tuning at the stick.com web site. Obviously you do t have to use fret 7 but I find that location convenient and the tuning readings tend to be better somewhere in the middle area of the fretboard

First off, congratulations on your pending arrival! :-)

I am not certain I understand the question, but I'll answer it the way I'm reading it.

The presence of the dampers up by the nut makes it a bit impractical to do it like a guitar, where you pluck an open string. I tap/hold the string I'm tuning with one hand at the 7th fret on the bass side (GDAEBF#) while adjusting the tuning peg with the other hand. I do the same thing, except from the 12th fret, on the melody side (BEADGC).

Others may use different frets, but I choose these because they're in the middle of the range I typically play at the most.
