Turquoise recon on darker Sticks
Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering if anyone has a darker instrument (graphite, rosewood) with turquoise recon inlays, and if so would you be able to provide some pics?
My new instrument is in the next production run and I'm still trying to decide which colour of linear inlay to match with rosewood. I'm not too keen on the plainness of the solid colours (ivory, glow, etc.) and I like the look of the turquoise, but am wondering if there would be enough contrast and, well, if it would even look good with the rosewood.
Cheers, James

Re: Turquoise recon on darker Sticks
Hey James. My wenge SG12 is in the same run as yours. Yuta and Emmett suggested turquoise dots for this wood, but I chickened out and went with white pearl dots. I don't have any pics, but I just thought the turquoise would look way too loud against the wenge. It would stand out, alright, but a bit too much for my taste. The wenge appears to be a close cousin to the rosewood, perhaps a bit darker with more intense grain.

Re: Turquoise recon on darker Sticks
If (more like when) I order my next Stick, I intend to ask for wenge with turquoise linear inlays. I think that combination will look fabulous. I'm not too worried about the contrast when playing live in dark venues. I won't be doing that very often if ever. I just like the combination. I have some wenge wood and I've held it up to the turquoise inlays on my bamboo Stick and I like it.

the Turq. should look great against the blackish Wenge wood.

Re: Turquoise recon on darker Sticks
I just did a google search: "turquoise inlay rosewood" and found the following images. After seeing the combination, I've definitely decided to go with the turquoise linear inlays on my new rosewood Stick. Gorgeous!
