I'm getting ready to put myself on the waiting list (again).

Med school is winding down for me and I'm thinking of getting another stick to replace the one I sold a while back..

My question pertains to the pickups... I had a stickup in my old one and I loved the "plucky" acoustic edge to the tone, but I wonder if the versatility of the PASV4 isn't where I should go. I'm a long-time acoustic guitar player and don't do a lot of electric stuff... Can the PASV-4 come 'close' to the Stickup, or should I just go with the "tried and true" that I knew and loved?

Hi Michael,

The answer is definitely NO! I have 3 sticks, each one with another pickup. The 3 pickups are amazingly good and amazingly DIFFERENT! If you love it, stick to the stickup!

I mean Tony Levin only needed a Stickup...

I started out with a old carbon Stick (-87 about) with Stickup PU some 20 years ago. Now I have modern 10-string Stick instruments with Villex and EMG PU´s and I´ve noticed how much I miss the Stickup PU. I bought a old Stick, mid 80´s about, very recently and that one sounds so much better than the ones i have now. The Stickup PU was what turned me on to the Stick initially so I´ll get new ones with Stickup PU´s instead as soon as I can get SE to answer my e-mails. I prefer Stickup equipped Stick´s and it has taken me about 5 years with instruments with EMG/Villex PU´s to figure that out. So I´m going back to where I once started and I´m pretty sure that I am doing the right thing this time.

Stick Enterprises are great to deal with however they are busy and aren't that good when it comes to replying to e-mail. I suggest you give them a call rather then wait for an e-mail reply.

Hi and thanks. I will call them up tonight, Swedish time. I´ve had to do with them since mid 80´s about and, yes, they are great to deal with. And, yes, they are not very good when it comes to replying to e-mails. ;) I´ve noticed that. More now than earlier. But I´m very impressed with SE in general. Always been very helpful and kind in every way. Fantastic folks, indeed. I´ve bought 6 instruments from them over these 20 years and I´ve always been thrilled each time I´ve contacted them. And now I will order two new instruments. Will call them instead of e-mail them.

E-mail is unfortunately a better way to communicate then by phone. Especially for us living outside US. Sweden in my case. Easier to be precise when asking questions and you can write whenever. There is a 9 hour time difference between Sweden and California so the only time I can call is rather late at night. I do understand that they most likely get tons of e-mails from prople asking newbie questions about the Stick and that that they have to make phone calls a priority. I used to work in a music store and we did the same thing. We took care of the customers in the store and ignored the ones calling on the phone. :o I´ll call them tonight. ;) Thanks.

Sincerely//Jan Hellman/Sweden.
