A guy I know scallopped the melody side fretboard on his Stick to accomodate his long nails on the right hand :)
I could NEVER get myself to do that ... I wrote to SE once asking if they had ever thought of making an instrument like that but they never replied

I’m in a phase where I’m playing more classical guitar, having bought one a few years ago by a local luthier here in Scotland (Mark Burnet). I’m still quite terrible at it but find the sound and feel so inspiring.

I do keep my nails short particularly since my more recent custom Grand Stick has the smallest version of the fret rails. My 2004 Padauk Grand has the original large fret rails, which have noticeably more space between string and fretboard, and more accommodating for longer nails (although perhaps not enough for the length most classical guitarists might want to grow their nails).

So I’ve definitely been watching videos on classical guitarist technique with no nails! I have not checked out Fernando Sor’s material yet.

I play a lot of steel string fingerstyle. I was at a workshop with Laurence Juber many years back and he convinced me to just whack the fingernails all together. Once I got used to it, I found I preferred it.
