Surrealistic Joke?
August 16th, Saturday afternoon. Free Hands Academy 2014. It was Luc's turn to come up to get his picture taken with the group. So he devised a sure way to get Emmett to smile. Luc's Surrealistic JokeQ: What's the difference between a soccer ball? A: A bird, because a vest has no sleeves. It worked... kinda.

Re: Surrealistic Joke?
Thanks Dave. My trick is to only put the good ones out there. The best lesson I learned while making a documentary is that your biggest mistakes are your best opportunities. When somethiing goes terribly wrong, the inventive solution you come up with to overcome it, makes it even better than you can imagine. I notice that with performers. When they flub, the music right after the flub is often their best.

Re: Surrealistic Joke?
I think that Emmett much prefers 1:1 conversation. I also think these administrative aspects of the FHA seem a little monotonous for Emmett, he would much rather be playing music or talking about the Stick than standing around and taking pictures.
At lunch, I let people know that it would be in their best interest to have a joke ready for Emmett to ensure that he would be smiling in their individual picture. Luc hit it out of the park with his, I mean, ALL of us were cracking up. How fantastic was it that Dan captured that moment?!
