So, what I'm doing at the moment is tuning the accompaniment half of my 12 string DADGDA (top two reversed from 'normal' DADGAD for reasons of being closer to the existing CGDAEB). It makes very little 'sense' as a tuning, except:

It loses me less range compared to the mirrored fourths I was toying with.

I play a lot of DADGAD on guitar.

I like the sound of the things that fall easily under the fingers.

Obviously, there are disadvantages, including some loss of range, and a lack of consistency of patterns across strings. But it is a fun one to play with.

This is a great use of second Stick. I've always to try different tuning but don't want to have to constantly re-tune.

Maybe it's time for a second Stick?! :D

I wanted to try mirrored 4ths but didn't want to give up the Matched Reciprocal, so the Railboard stayed MR and the Rosewood went to Mirrored 4ths. And the NS/Stick is straight bass 4ths. Definitely a great use of--and good reason for--another Stick. Do it!
;)

You're right PG&O...

I've always wanted a Bamboo 10 string, PASV-4 with Blue PolyPreal inlays. Then again, I am way overdue for a StepAbout deux AND I don't even use a passive pickup....

Mirrored 4ths for me on both my Railboard and my Grand... Not everybody is the same, but it's cool how the Stick can accommodate us all, eh?

I play allot of dadgad style guitar. One thing I find using this tuning is that the “open strings” are the bread and butter so how is it working out so far? Is this a situation where a capo could be used?

cool mang!

It's going to take a bit for you to wrap your mind around it, but your hands ARE the capos. With 10 fingers and two thumbs you will be able to create all kinds of crazy pianistic textures just by playing a triad on one side, and another on the other side. The symmetrical aspect is something that s really, really cool about the instrument; especially with where the dots/lines are on the Stick...

The Stick (for me) has really been a study in multiple voices, it's crazy how dense it can get! A lot of fun...
