Arghhhhhhhh Kev! Great Stuff.
So glad you you had a fantastic night , with that done there's no stopping you. luckily no one asked me to fill an hour or more , that could be tricky.
Similar experiences though and no better feeling after it. Unfortunately the Pirate Ship beckons so I'm out for 5 or 6 weeks , but I can read your next report offshore whilst I frantically build up more material , Cheers , B.

Great to hear KC. I really enjoy your selections and your drive. It's on now. I don't why you've been holding out BLUE STEEL style, but glad to hear that the people up in your part of town are finally aware of all the beautiful music you've been hiding away with us.

You're a fucking rad musician. You've got the technique, the experience, the repertoire and confidence. Thanks for continuing to be such a pure source of inspiration for all of us.

Wait til I unveil MAGNUM......

Thanks Gene for the kind words.
And with regard to the last free hands session, I did that (and would like to do more, and see more from other players) 'cause I think that all of us are capable of having a repertoire in a short period of time. I really want to help newer guys, not so new guys, etc,... learn that although there's a certain level of commitment involved, they can all reach a level that will make them proud, get tunes under their belt, and push the gospel.

If I can do it, anyone can.....I want to help you guys be big.

cheers,
kev

"...Although I play mostly recognizable hits from the past, guess what tune blew the roof off?........
Tom Griesgrabers El Prado......this tune garnered the most response and kudos....6.5 minutes of pure Stick gold and one of my fave tunes to listen to and play.... "

Kev, I just listened to Tom's song, I love the way he goes back and forth with playing the melody on both sides of the stick. His technique within this song is really cool! Also how he plays the same chord at one point, at different frets on the stick, very cool!

So how did you learn the chord arrangement for this? It seems above and beyond my capabilities to figure it out by ear. I am trying to learn covers, and usually I can find the chords online at guitar tab, and now with a new app I bought... on Steve A's recommendation... iReal Pro... it is really good! Trying to figure out chords by ear is tough for me, I think I have a 'tin ear' LOL!

Hey Rand.

I cheated.....
My ears pretty good, but not good enough to decipher stuff when it goes by at high speed. I learned this one like I learned most other stuff......by using the amazing slow downer. I had Toms record in my ipad, and I have the Amazing Slow Downer (ASD) on my ipad as well. I import the tune into ASD then slow it down, loop it, learning tiny chunks at a time. There's a lot of repitition in this tune so that made the task less daunting. It still took me forever to learn though, maybe a few months ( and by that I mean to put the pieces together) I also reference his video online if theres a spot in the tune that gives me grief. Theres no tough chords in this tune, most of them are closed voice.

I cant stress enough how valuable the ASD is......without it I wouldnt have anything like this tune under my belt. 80% of the stuff I know was learned by using this program. I really dont have any skills that set me apart from any newbs on the forum. You are all capable of doing it.......just cheat like me.

I spent my first year banging into walls with my Stick until I discovered the ASD, thats when things really took off for me.

cheers,
kev

Kev, thanks for that tip on the slow downer, I'll definitely be checking that out.

"It still took me forever to learn though, maybe a few months"

Ha! That's not "forever" in MY book lol! I've been learning to play since January this year, and I am still learning rudimentary skills! I am struggling to nail down 5 or 6 tunes without huge clams! Steve A has helped me tremendously, I was stumbling around in the dark before I started skype lessons. I learned a lot from Greg H's instructional DVD as well as Steve's book and DVD.
It remains an ongoing process. As soon as I can get through 3 songs without major roadblocks, I am bound for a couple of local open mics. It might take another few months... or "forever", lol!
