Re: MOD DUO
Jzzb8ovn wrote: Hey Dean. Does this pedal have a freeze feature like the EH freeze pedal? Hi Jzzb8ovn, Yes. There is a plugin called "Stuck" in the unstable list. It hasn't been fully vetted by the MOD team but I, and many others, have been using it with no issues. (If anyone needs instructions on accessing "unstable" plugins let me know and I will send you instructions)At this point in time the Duo only supports a toggle switching so you press down the footswitch to get the drone going then you step on it again to stop it just like the latch function on the EHX freeze pedal. The MOD will be adding the momentary switch feature soon so you can freeze when foot is down and off when you lift your foot. Based on user feedback the developer made a different version of the plugin called "Stuck Stacker" that has a separate output for the drone and the direct signal so that you can have different effects for each. Really Cool! The plugin looks like an elmer's glue bottle...

Re: MOD DUO
If anyone is using Cycling 74's Max/MSP... Duo is now integrated with it. You can upload the effects you created in Max and convert it into a plugin to use in your Duo. https://cycling74.com/feature/modduo

The integration is great, super-easy to do. I had been procrastinating on learning Gen~ (what you use within Max to setup the plugins) and now I have no excuse.

I think once I have some ideas and make them a reality using Max then I will have a better grasp.. Any suggestions on how to learn Max?

Re: MOD DUO
Max can be a very deep and dark rabbit hole. Honestly, the best way to learn it is to think of something you want to build or do with it, and just start building it. It’s best to have something specific to work on. The tutorials cover a lot and can feel like they go on forever. Going through the Max built-in the tutorials under “Basics” will cover a lot of what you need to understand on how Max works.
For Max in general, the documentation and built-in tutorials are excellent. If your main goal is to build plugins for your Mod Duo, then focus on Gen. Unfortunately, Gen is one of the more recent additions to Max and one of the least documented. It’s a bit different from the general Max environment.
I’m not sure how familiar you are with Max, so here’s a bit of a breakdown: Max objects - general data and MIDI - start here and learn the basic data types and how to deal with them, you’ll need to understand these to control all the other stuff
MSP - audio processing objects
Jitter - video and OpenGL. A lot of folks who don’t do video don’t ever look at this, but the jit.matrix is a great way to store and deal with large amounts of data
Max for Live - specific objects that integrate into Ableton Live
Then there is all the additional stuff, like Java and JavaScript integration and Gen. You can start with Gen (the way you build in it is most similar to buildlng MSP stuff, or you can just code if you know programming), but I think if you cover the basics of the Max and MSP stuff, it will help somewhat.
The online forums and the various Facebook groups are also very helpful. And especially for Gen, check out the articles on Cycling'74's website.
