Your post is very timely! As I've gotten back into tapping my body has quickly reminded me of one of the issues I had last time. I tried a sitting position and hat helped, and this is good incentive for me to keep up with the stretches and exercises I learned in physical therapy.

I'd rather stand than sit, and I've been pondering using an adjustable monitor arm as a stick stand since it should be easy to maneuver it into the ideal playing position
I need to figure out what a good base would be for it. I'm also going to try to make a mount that doesn't require direct bolting to the belt hook. This would be strictly a playing stand and wouldn't holt the Stick stable on its own. Just in the idea stage right now.

Thinking outside the box here.
Maybe a camera stabilizer vest might work?

Hmm. That looks like it couldn't support much weight. This arm claims it can do 26 pounds https://smile.amazon.com/HUANUO-Monitor ... B07X48X4KM

I figure it needs to be able to have an operating height of 30-40" to accommodate belt hook positions for people of various heights, so I'd need a base around 18" tall

Scronk: I find that I can tilt the stick a little bit more towards me which helps. But I think you could put it in almost any position with this stand. Also, it was pretty simple to make. There are other good designs but they involve more woodworking tools and talent then I possess.

Jkick, I’m really glad it works for you. The idea was to make something stable, adjustable, quick to build and reasonably cheap. I think the objectives were met overall. Hopefully someone else decides to build this SUSS stand - it would be great to see more pictures here.

That’s neat, stickist, was that a recent build? It’s similar to the TAGG idea, with a slot to hold the belt hook. (Is that a 10-string grand with heavy gauge strings? #6227)
