New amp
Just picked up this monster.. Holy shit. I have to learn to play now to make this amp feel good. Nicest sounding thing i ever plugged into. It moves some air, and sounds great. Acus oneforstrings ad. 2x8. Wow.

Plug in all the Sticks Looks like it will be fun to play around with (especially the additional options on Channel 4). That whole "oneforstrings" product line has an interesting target niche. How well (low-end range, flat response) does it reproduce the bass frequencies?

Editing:
Looked up the manual and see that it has 3 instrument level inputs. For some reason on the actual unit they're labeled line.

I have been playing stick with fishman loudbox performer, and wow what a difference a real amp makes. The bass strings are so punchy, and the sustain is amazing. This amp really wants you to touch the strings lightly, but if you dont it just takes anything you throw at it. I have a hard time clipping with the gain all the way up. I turn the gain down to about 75% though. Hopefully i will have some sound samples soon. I am not a big effects guy, and this thing has a great re creation of the string vibration. They have an italian guy playing contrabass on it on youtube, the bass sounds better than anything i ever plugged into, which doesn't say much but,,. Supposedly a true analog amp. Clean and accurate, harmonically pleasing. I found a renewed love for the Stick sound with this amp. . I almost bought the schertler unico,. I picked up a used one, it had great tone as well, but there was static on one of the channels, and rust on some screws so i sent it back. I love this thing.

Re: New amp
That’s a nice looking amp, I’d be interested in hearing it sometime. Interesting that you have to get that high watt model before you get 1MOhm input impedance, their lower watt amps have only 480K and recommend a high output pickup/preamp.
So far the Schertler JAM is still my favorite acoustic combo amp for its tone and ability to reach 40Hz, once you can hear those deep fundamentals its hard to go back. Beats out other combos I’ve used from Fishman, Hughes and Kettner Era 2, Acoustic Image, and Line 6 StageSource.

Re: New amp
Hi Rob. I got the Unico because of your recommendation, but I got turned off because it was not well kept, I will not be buying used amplifiers anymore. The bass response on this thing is not even in the same class as the fishman. I may have to buy another schertler, after I sell some other equipment, but I will buy new, considering the schertler I bought on reverb said new mint condition and it wasn't. There was noise on channel 2 and Rusty screws.
Like you said there's no going back after you play through a high-end amplifier. As far as I'm concerned it's a bargain considering how much I pay for a stick. If you're going to have a high-end instrument you might as well have a high-end amplifier. The schertler did have a much warmer sound. The acus i bought new, $1699 the unico was $1899 new. I cheaped out but still got a great amp for my novice ears for now. I would love to hear you play someday by the way. My sister-in-law lives in Connecticut around New Haven area. I have to keep updated on your website, when this covid shit blows over.

Re: New amp
Hi,
I also use the Acus One 5 for practicing. A very honest amp with EQ for every channel and a nice reverb effect.

Re: New amp
Anyone have any insight on how the Acus One Forstrings 8 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier 1x8 might sound for small coffee shop gigs with the Stick?
