Post Adjustments/repairs/setup
I just verified that SE still has a 2-year waiting list for repairs. I have a stick that needs minor setup adjustments to get it in proper playing condition. Higher notes fret out, buzzing on other strings. I tried adjusting the truss rod, but that didn’t work. Greg’s videos were informative, but I’d rather not screw around with other adjustments on my own, as I tend to fu.

Any ideas on other technically inclined guitar folks who can help out? Two years waiting is a long time

I'm right with you man! Same thing here. But I'm 6 months into a 2 year wait.

My problem Stick is maybe 90-95% there. And when I tweak it, it seems to get worse. It makes a good backup Stick for now. But I wouldn't want to depend on it.

I make it worse when I attempt to adjust it as well. King Midas touch in reverse: everything I touch turns to sheet

Perhaps a call to SE for tips and tricks?
Maybe Steve Adelson can help in a video session?

It's not that difficult assuming it doesn't need fretwork. It's just like setting up an electric guitar. Same variables. Just more strings. And the longer scale means bridge intonation is more critical. All you need is a few tools, the ear of a musician and a stable strobe tuner. And patience. Even when I simply change strings (same exact gauge and tuning), I've been known to futz around with the intonation for 2 days till I'm satisfied that it plays in tune as well as it possibly can all over the fingerboard.

What are you using to gage truss rod adjustments, sighting the fretboard or using a steel rule/strait edge? I could never do the “sight method” Greg and Emmett taught, I have to do my adjustments with a straightedge.

I don’t use the sight method, but a primitive method, where I tighten the truss rod until it starts to buzz, then back off slightly until the buzz goes away. This usually does the trick, until now.

Nor me. I got a proper straight edge & a set of feeler gauges (N.B. whe they arrived they were heavily coated with oil - I gave them a very thorough clean before they got near the Stick).

My approach is small adjustments, one at a time, with each change noted in a book so I could reverse if necessary...

If you have a divided truss rod I highly recomment the topic that Werkspace linked to above.

Here are a few more things I have bookmarked. First is a Stickist post including notes from Emmett himself, then a Greg Howard video (with time stamps links below the video for particular bits)
