What a treat to see. He called the Chapman Stick a stereo instrument. We all know it's dual mono...

Love seeing he's still using an ampeg amp - I guess he uses that for both the bass and melody side and adjusts the EQ from the Quad Cortex.

I think he was using a different amp for the melody side on the beat tour.

Man I checked the road diary pics from LA, SD and pretty much all the collections of photos - I just see that one Ampeg amp?

I do have some regrets about not seeing them - it was definitely my favorite KC era.

If I'm reading this right (never a safe assumption), the sound the audience hears is direct out from the Cortex into the PA, and the amp is for 'feel,' for Tony's benefit only.

Quote:
Tony Levin is using a Neural DSP Quad Cortex for all his processing on the bass, Chapman stick and synth. “We take direct outputs off of the Quad Cortex for everything,” Kearns continues. “Similar to Adrian’s wedges, the Ampeg VB-115 cab with V3 head is used for some stage volume and air pressure feel.”

Yeah, that is a good assessment. With all the advancements in IEM, amps are mostly just for the player anyway these days...
