The instrument looks to be in great condition, but for a player that is new to the instrument, one may be willing to wait for a new one for the same price.

Here is one on reverb in equally good condition for $900 less.

And then there's this guy, who recently dropped the price $500, who is still trying to pedal this 80's Stick for $3500.

Greg and I did a nice bit on purchasing a Stick in FHF #42 and Claire, Vic and I did a 2-part series on purchasing a new instrument if you or he are interested.

Granted, this instrument does come with an ATA case and a few extras on top of which there is no denying that the striated grains that run through this instrument are magnificent. I respect that the owner wants the best possible price, but there may not be the same appetite for vintage instruments in our community as seen in other communities.

I will say, it's condition is pristine and it's a divine piece of musical history that will hopefully find it's way into the right hands as I bet it sounds as good as it looks.

Again...not to be nit picky. And I know this is not your sale Gene. But whoever posted this or is looking to purchase this Stick should consider...

This Stick on Reverb would not be an early 1990s, but a mid 1980s...most likely 1985 or 86. I base this on:
1) lack of truss
2) what appears to be a non-scalloped headstock at the nut (I cannot tell by the photos)
3) the style of case and
4) Serial number #1518

When I owned #1283 (from 1996), Yuta confused it with #1283 "from 1984" over an email conversation many years ago.

Not that a 5 year difference matters much. And I'm sure the seller isn't trying to falsify anything on purpose.

Stick history advancements and serial number/year creation is a nerdy hobby of mine...;) And sometimes I get it wrong...

Sounds legit! This is a pretty funny hobby, trying to pinpoint instrument age, and it's not always easy to keep track of all the details.

Another give-away is that it has regular frets, not Rods (10-89: Hardwood instruments with single adjustable truss rod and stainless steel Fret Rods.)

But then it has the height adjustable belt hook (came 9-94 acc. to the timeline), as well as modern knobs on the pickup; in fact the entire pickup module looks very fresh and modern.

Indeed, the description says "was fully serviced by Stick Industries (sic!) in 2010", at which time I presume it got those modern features.

I think you can probably take the 1986 out of that Brian? My #1642 was confirmed as 1985 by Jeff at SE.

That is a weird one! If it is really 80's, it has to be late 1989 because it has Fret Rods - and that bridge that looks so strange - wasn't that discussed in a recent thread? It looks retro-fitted! I didn't think SE were much into doing that, but I could be wrong.

Yes, that instrument #272 was discussed in https://stickist.com/viewtopic.php?p=136442#p136442

Ah, I agree on the year of this one Brian.

You may sometimes get it wrong, but sometimes GREG HOWARD says to you:

"Good eye Brian"

And this is good enough for me Brian Baggett :D

SIDE NOTE
Really enjoying a high level of nerdom on this thread.

Unless a used Stick is made of Brazilian Rosewood or Macassar Ebony or something crazy like that than I can't justify a price over $2500USD for it, regardless of condition. Unless it's a custom build or a prototype or something but that's completely different.
