It's here!
Hi All, My NS/Stick arrived here in the UK today and here's a picture, nestled next to my other "bass oddity", a U-Bass, and my amps. (My bass guitars and other guitars are out of shot.) https://www.dropbox.com/s/dyrghiip381eeg8/NSStick%20and%20UBass%202.JPG?dl=0I had a good play, practising "Billie Jean" to try to get a feel for the two-hands thing. I can't try the MIDI until tomorrow - no cable with either the GK3 fitted to the Stick or the GR55 I bought separately! I'll post some questions as I go along. An early one is how to cope with the change in volume for the bass strings going between stereo and mono? Cheers.

Re: It's here!
Thanks.
I spent a fair bit of time messing with strap length today. I guess that's normal, a bit like getting the seat right in a new car. All empirical.
Sleep now. Will squeeze in some playing in the morning before work.

Welcome to the NS club. The body wood is stunning. What type of wood is that? Would you post a picture of the back?

Re: It's here!
Hey Voices, congrats on the new axe, beauty.
The volume differential is going to be challenging if not impossible to compensate for without a second pre-amp or a whole separate rig. Dean, Gary, Oceans or Kyle could correct me if I'm wrong here but generally making that switch is not something done mid-set, it's a preference. I know Gary runs mono on his NS,
I don't know about Other NS players but I never run my Stick mono unless I am forced to do so. It's simply a feature of Stick pickups, with the exception of the Stickup, that accommodates a mono bridge.

Re: It's here!
Russell, Earthgene, thanks. It's ash and the grain is certainly something. I'll take some more pictures and will post.
On the mono v. stereo volume I will certainly welcome more comments. I'm not yet sure at all how I will set up the rig. Much depends on how I get on with the GR-55 and how much I use my GT-100 and/or other effects. For pure bass I plan to use the PJB cab straight (except if I find I need some kind of boost/compression). Yesterday, first play, I was running into the PJB for pure bass (whether just the bass strings or all four) and the Engl for melody strings when I fancied some crunch, distortion or screaming.

Re: It's here!
Cool, good to hear. Russell, Dean, Kyle, Oceans and Gary are going to be great NS resources for you. Russell has some excellent write ups out there, so do some stickist searching on his posts - they are solid gold.
I like the idea of simple, short term goals. There will be plenty of time to freak out and GAS up your catalog of gear. To start, go simple. One amp, no midi. I know that Gary goes straight into an Orange amp/cab and run mono. I think Dean has a more elaborate stereo setup with fuzz on one side, like you are outlining with the ENGL. To each their own.
I have tried some of the smaller PJB cabs - very interesting technology. Looking forward to seeing some video of the NS with these amps, cheers.

Thanks Russell.
I've now attached the photos. I can't work out what's wrong with the embedding, even when I tried Flikr instead of Dropbox.
