I've gotten very used to having ramps on my basses, so I decided to add one to my NS.
The lack of a place for my thumb was getting annoying while using it in bass mode. I also find having the surface close under my fingers helps a lot when using certain right hand techniques.
This is the first version, I'll be doing another improved model in the next few days. I have a couple of things that can be better.

That's creative. Is it held on with double sided tape?

Awesome! After using one for years on my bass/basses I’ve made the move to take it off, enables more dynamics and for digging in, but makes perfect sense for the NS/Stick to regulate dynamics!

Russell, yes it is. Just a few little pieces.

Mcgrahamhk, I totally get that. My favorite bass doesn't have one. As you said, it's great for regulating dynamics. I'm going to a more closed hand position like Dominic DiPiazza, so the ramp is almost essential. On the NS, I feel like it really opens up right hand options.

Nice! I tried DiPiazzas approach for a while but ended up going down the Matt Garrison 4 finger route, then following other advice on just getting proficient with 2 fingers (e.g. Janet Gwizdala advocating using Hanon piano exercises). Now after a decade or so doing all that stuff I find I don’t NEED the ramp to find that 4 finger reference point (though it does make it easier!) and the benefits of no ramp outweigh the cons of not having one... but it’s taken a while to get to that stage and to feel musically like it’s the right choice.

But for NS/Stick, I cannot think of a negative!

Brilliant. Making sure Gary sees this.

This is great...will you be making a template available?

Let me look into that. It's a great idea.
