Shutting Up
I'm sure some of you can see what's been going on here....
It's really just too much work to share what I'm doing in the climate on this forum, so I'll just keep it to myself from now on.
I will not return, nor attempt to teach what I'm doing in connection with the Stick brand, unless Emmett himself asks me to. That may well be never, but I have so much more to learn myself, anyway. My time now is best spent studying and practicing.
Mad Monk.

Y'all should stick around, Mad Monk. Sometimes it takes a while for an opposing viewpoint to kind of "settle" and be accepted as an opposing viewpoint. Heh

Re: Shutting Up
I for one am sad to hear this.... I remember several years ago @ the L.A. Free Hands Academy, I got to meet and hear Mad Monk play.... Of the 4 days i spent there, his performance stood out and affected me deeply..... WOW ! The cat has SO much to offer. I am not sure what has happened behind the scene or whatever, but my (hallucination) and it is just that, is that he has never felt recognized by the community at large, and by that, I mean the the community of teachers on the instrument.... Maybe some of it is personal baggage, who knows... But what I do know is that Mad Monk is an incredible player with a deep well of knowledge that we could all learn from.... Please.... DO NOT go away...

Re: Shutting Up
Hey Monk, please Stick around. A few years ago I said something that someone took as a personal attack and proclaimed they were leaving this forum forever. Even after P.M.ing this person that I wasn't dissing their playing, they stayed away for quite awhile. Not saying it was ME that kept them away, because I'M NOT THAT IMPORTANT. But, c'mon, I WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ALL THINGS STICK.

Re: Shutting Up
My .02 cents... I don't comment much, but I feel like the 'other' thread slipped sideways, comments made, and taken, the wrong way. It's difficult enough face to face, sometimes, but when things are written, without vocal intonation, it's often taken the wrong way. Frankly I think forums, and texting in general, are a bad idea because I've seen this happen many times.
In any event Mad Monk... whatever you have, or choose, to offer to the community, share, or not share, is your business. But the stick community at large needs alternative voices like yours. Right or wrong, good or bad, it's all individual opinions, but the legacy of the instrument needs ALL comments in order to continue to grow.
Stick around....... ANY contribution you make will prove to be valuable in the long run.
