Re: Midi Guitar 2 Demo on Alto Stick
Wow. I've done a lot of midi stuff on stringed instruments and it can have its challenges such as sluggish response on wound strings over about .60 gauge but this is pretty impressive and articulate.

Re: Midi Guitar 2 Demo on Alto Stick
Nima Rezai is my Stick/Synth hero! He's got a couple of videos out with the Jam Origins now. This is a good demo of it and Stick.
I've had pretty good results with Jam Origin MIDI guitar on both NS/Stick and my 10-string Rosewood.
I've also been using the Roli Lightpad and the Seaboard Block to trigger MIDI stuff, but "Z'ha'dum" was done with NS/Stick. The bassline and melody were done on NS/Stick with Jam Origin MIDI Guitar and also the one for Bass. The solo and arpeggios were regular keyboard controller.
It tracks to my Stick playing pretty well, at least for basic rhythms. I'm not a tenth of the player Nima is, but Jam Origins can rock it out, IMHO.
You know, I have a Midi pickup on both of my sticks, and a Roland GR55 and a VG99 and I almost never use 'em. They are there if I want to use them, but I just like stick and guitar sounds. haha I guess if I didn't have them, I'd want them (midi pickup)
I messed with this App using a VG Strat. Just a 1/4" cable plugged in to my Focusrite Scarlett PC interface, USB out direct to the iPAD. The Midi Guitar 2 App runs on the iPAD and allows the guitar to trigger any Synth App on the iPAD with no special pickup or cables. Plus there is a PC version as well for use as a Plug-in for any DAW.
I've got a GR55 Guit Synth and the Fishman Triple Play system as well. Both require a Hex Pickup to trigger synth sounds. But the tracking is glitchy on many patches, especially faster runs on Piano, Sax, etc. I haven't tried either of my Sticks or the NS with Midi Guitar 2, but it looks promising.
I have a Line6 Sonic port on the way (a simple interface for iPAD or PC). I'll report back with results.

Sonic port and Triple play owner also.
I had a really nice Godin LGXT that triggered pretty nicely, and the triple play also triggers pretty much error free. I think that for me, I just sort of decided that when I want to play a synth, I will just do that. If I need to convert my guitar lines to midi, well it’s probably faster if I just transcribe the line, and export my score to midi. If I am in a really big panic Isuppose I could pull it into melody e and export a midi file from that information...That’s just me, though. I really like guitar and stick tones... pretty much zero interest in synth guitar for me at this point, especially with gear like Roli blocks and the Linnstrument available... again, that’s just me. Lol

Yea, cool. Nice playing there. I agree its great tracking once you get its feel. The same way you have to with the roland stuff too. I can't believe how well it works, I tried on NS and its ace besides the lowest 2 strings(of course) Cheers
