 What are you working on?

Post Re: What are you working on?
Hi Peeps.

I've been transcribing a handfull of songs, multi tracking the separate parts to any given arrangement. From there I'll distill what I consider to be the essential parts so I can play it as a solo piece.

Check out excerpt from Gods & Monsters.

Cheers.

Post Re: What are you working on?
I am preparing for the wedding of a co-worker (next weekend, July 11). They requested all traditional, classical wedding music. My first thought was "Great! I'm a classically-trained, operatic tenor with 25 years of professional wedding/church experience! This will be a standard gig!"

Then he mentioned that they would like me to play the service on the Stick. My inner voice started going "Um... OK... Yes... I - can - do - this...?!?" Handel, Bach, Clarke, Beethoven, Debussy, Wagner, Schumann, Stölzel... . These are all pieces I have never performed before (mostly instrumental music) on an instrument that wasn't even in the wildest dreams of the respective composers. I am having to analyze classical scores, then figure out voicings and note placement. All things I haven't done in the 7 years since I stopped gigging for a living.

This has been a massive kick in the butt for me, as I haven't worked on any of this music theory stuff in a long time.

It is working, and I am actually glad for it, because it is forcing me to finally knuckle-down and really learn the Stick fret-board.

4 days, and counting...

Wish me luck!

Paul

Hi

currently arranging Springsteen's thunder road. Lotsa lyrics to memorize, but basically 3 chords and a bunch of variations. Still way to go. Will record it as soon as I can sing it without too many clams. Will be a heavily stripped down version anyway.

Stay tooned

O.

Started working on Billy McLaughlin's "Into The Light"....almost made for Stick!

He's an acoustic guitarist who contracted Focal Dystonia and couldn't play 'regular' acoustic. A couple years later he started tapping acoustic to keep playing.

He's got several performance video clips on YouTube as well as some lessons... Worth checking out.
