 Re: Emmett Chapman (1936-2021)
For Emmett Chapman To wake up to this very sad news breaks my heart. Emmett was a father to us all. His creative vision started a new musical trail with his invention of the Stick on par with the development of other music machines. Having owned many of his handcrafted beauties since the beginning, I can truly say that Emmett poured himself into every Stick of art. His care, attention to detail, and sensitivity to a music-makers needs will be sorely missed. I will never forget my sojourn to his Stick factory/home, the mélange of wood dust aromas, the tools his hands held, and the Stick blanks waiting for the master’s final touch. Most of all though, the kindness and humility his wife Yuta and Emmett embraced my family with was unforgettable. Emmett was a true pioneer, a great soul who helped so many to find their own unique voice via his tapping theorbo, the Chapman Stick. We wish to express warm condolences for his lovely wife Yuta, daughter Grace, his brother Dan, and to all the music people tapped by Emmett. Rosewood Tenor Stick 1165 - Marc Dabney

My deepest condolences to Yuta, Grace, Diana, and Dan. He touched all of our lives and truly made a difference with his vision and creativity. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a great presence. His vision will live on in all of us - in our playing and in our opening the minds of the people listening to us.

Such a heavy heart hearing this...at a loss for words. Emmett left the world in a much better place than when he came into it, and has/will touch many for generations to come. My warmest thoughts and prayers to the family Chapman.

I suspect like many here, fingers on the keyboard looking for words to type that would mean something
I got nothing.

 Re: Emmett Chapman (1936-2021)
My condolences to Yuta, Dan and the entire Chapman family. Emmett was a visionary who gave us the gift of the Stick and a new path to making music. He was also a kind, patient person in every conversation I had with him. I think of him every time I pick up the Stick and mention him every time I am asked about the instrument.
He left the world a better place and had a profound and positive impact on my life and the lives of many others.
I will miss him.
Jeremy

 Re: Emmett Chapman (1936-2021)
I'm very sad to hear this. I had the pleasure of meeting Emmett once and I'll always be grateful for his vision and contribution to my life and the musical world. I haven't played my Stick since my heart attack but I will today and remember.

R.I.P. Emmett...my condolences for your family. Even though I'm not a stick owner anymore I was always coming here to read comments on this beautiful instrument you invented. Great achievement.
