Hello from Germany
Hi everyone, Next week I will get my first stick, a railboard from 2015. Here in Germany it is not easy to find a stick but I succeed. In the early 2000s I felt in love with the sound Tony Levin produced with the stick on the first Liquid Tension Album. And now, a dream comes true with my own first steps/taps …. Primary I am a drummer, then guitar, bass, handpan and some other Instruments turned up…. still being hungry…. Since a few week I am studying the free lesson videos from Greg Howard, Bob Culbertson and others and I am really looking forward to put my hands on the 10 strings. I think I will start with MR tuning, we will see where it will take me… Until now I would like to thank you, the community, for the valuable information and answers I already found here on the website. I am very glad to see such an supportive community. I am looking forward for a sticky journey with all of you! Ken from northern Germany

Re: Hello from Germany
Welcome to the Forum. There's definitely lots of good information here.
I'm curious as to what you plan to use for an amplifier? Also, do you plan to use any effects pedals, etc?

Re: Hello from Germany
I am a fan of modelling amps with iPad app controls. I plug my guitar or bass into a Fender Mustang GTX 50 and the Spark 40 (Positive Grid). And I plan to do so with the stick. The effect modulations are really tasty and I have a bunch of possibilities to experiment with several effect/amp combinations. On top of that I can directly use the amps as interfaces for recordings. Additionaly I am wondering if I could use my (physical) Cry Baby Wah pedal to produce nice pumping grooves… we will see Today I am collecting ideas for a holder or a stand…. Perhaps I will use the 3D printer for it…. Furthermore the tools for adjusting the truss rod and the pickups are missing but buying at SE and shipping from US is not really an economic solution so that I have to find suitable tools here in europe…. So if anybody has a good advice, I would be very thankful

Ken from northern Germany Welcome Ken. And congrats on the Railboard coming your way. I think Germany is the 2nd most Stick populous nation next to the US. Emmett Chapman's wife Yuta is from Germany and Emmett performed/promoted the instrument there quite a bit in the early days. There are a few German Stick players on this forum, but I don't know what region they are located in association to you. But maybe someone local can help you get started. All the best!

Ken -- I've attached a photo of two truss rod wrenches, the singled ended one is from a Railboard that was made before 2020 and the double ended is from a 2022 new delivery. The diameter of the hexagonal opening is 11.54 mm (+- .1 mm).

Until now I have never seen a stick on stage in Germany. Looking forward to change this

Re: Hello from Germany
Hi Ken!
You hit the nail on the head with this community, such a great place to be online and I’ve not traveled outside of Au for stick as yet, but feel that I have a family here.
I also have a drumming background so look forward to what you bring to us with your music!
Cheers
